Pretty sure my belly button is an inch+ too high. What do you think? (photos)

Question

I had an extended abdominoplasty last year and I AM SO HAPPPPPPY. I feel Better! However, my belly button is pretty high, and I feel it's such a giveaway. It looks very unnatural, more like a stylized drawing than a real belly. At this point I'm continuing to lose weight and perhaps it will somehow make a difference? Is it worth it or possible to lower my belly button? Thanks!

Thank you for your question and photos. The belly button does appear a little high. With an extended abdominoplasty the belly button is left attached to its stalk and brought out through an opening in the abdominal skin flap. Ideally, the level should be at the level of the anterior superior iliac (pelvic) spine or about 15-17cm from the upper labial comissure (where the labia majora come together). If loose weight, and the lower skin flap relaxes, one might "float" the belly button and reattach it lower to the fascia at the time of further skin excision at the pubic scar line.

A pre-op photo would be very helpful in answering your question better, as some people have higher belly buttons than others. Your belly button is left attached in its original location on the abdominal wall, but depending on its length there can be some variation as to where it is brought out on the abdominal skin.  Based on the 2 photos you provided your results look good.

With a tummy tuck, extended or not, the belly button is left attached in its original location. The skin below that are is removed, and the skin of the upper abdomen is pulled down and stretched to cover that area, and an opening is made overlying the belly button to bring it through. Some people have naturally higher belly buttons, which may be your situation. Your results overall look great.

Your before pictures would have been helpful. The position of the bely button should not change with tummy tuck. I would leave it alone.
