Is oral sedation sufficient to perform Tumescent liposuction surgery when the patient has a very low tolerance to pain?

Unless it is a very small amount of liposuction to be done, I prefer to do the surgery under general anesthesia as it is too painful. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck.

Moderate volume extractions of 3-4 liters can be done comfortably under local tumescent anesthesia. A planned volume extraction of 7 liters is probably too much to consider under local . Dr Crabtree

Oral sedation can be used for awake liposuction, but those who have low tolerance to pain do better with IV sedation or general sedation. Usually once you are numbed, the procedure goes well. I would suggest rescheduling your procedure under general anesthesia.

Best to be asleep under general anesthesia for liposuction.   Liposuction under local is too painful unless it is a very small liposuction that is planned.   My Best,   Dr Commons
