4 weeks post lipo of ab/ flanks 5800cc removed. Power assisted tuemescent liposuction . I don't understand how this procedure can be treated so lightly, I have had Brain surgery, hysterectomy and IVF all very painful? After hysterectomy I was back to work in 2 weeks and a bit sore. this pain has been at a 9 or 10, I have been miserable. I have severe nerve pain, my doctor says I have dysasthesia. I have been in three 3 x taking Percocet and ibuprofen, amitriptolyne, neurontin,etc... .
Answer: Pain Pain is different for every patient, and some have more with swelling and inflammation. Plastic surgeons do not take liposuction lightly, and do understand that it is surgery and does take up to 6 months to heal.

Answer: Pain after Liposuction & After care includes RF treatments (Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra) Cellutone/zwave, hyperbaric oxygen Pain can be variable for patients who have had liposuction. If necessary, this pain can be treated with anti-inflammatory medications and neurontin. If it persists, I recommend following up again with your Doctor. It can take 3-6 months for final results with liposuction. I suggest lymphatic massage, hyperbaric oxygen, and RF treatments like venus legacy to help reduce any swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Healing takes time after liposuction. Though the incisions for liposuction are quite small, the procedure itself is among the most invasive a plastic surgeon can perform. Liposuction can take months to recover from fully, and soreness and bruising are not only common but to be expected. You also had quite a bit of fat removed, which can also affect the length of time you feel uncomfortable. I hope things improve for you soon! Keep checking back in with your surgeon.

Answer: Miserable... Sorry to hear that you remain so uncomfortable. I'm not sure what you mean when you say "you don't understand how this procedure can be treated so likely." Most of us recognize liposuction to be a serious operation, and I caution my patients that mass media about lipo can be misleading. While we are only making small incisions, we are often operating on a large part of a patient's body, often several anatomic sites, and there are consequences of the surgery from fluid shifts to blood loss, even metabolic changes. Furthermore, 5.8 liters is a significant amount, far exceeding most liposuction cases. Not surprised that you are still uncomfortable. The most important thing is close, regular follow up with your surgeon to make certain that your discomfort is part of routine post operative healing and is not attributable to the development of any complications such as a brewing infection or underlying muscle injury. Once your doctor is confident that there are no unusual problems, then you should discuss the many different modalities that could be considered to provide greater relief. Hopefully, your recovery will progress soon, and you will be feeling better. Once you are on the mend, you may want to consider some of Dr. Emer's suggestions to try to optimize the results of your surgery by considering treatments to try to help tighten your skin.
