I'm not sure what the purpose of a drain would be in a Brazilian butt lift done properly. The fat is placed with small cannulas 3mm or less into the gluteus maximus muscle, deep fat and superficial fat in small amounts of 2mm strips upon withdrawing of the cannula. If a large amount of fat is placed in one place, this will end up liquefying and might need to be drained. Proper surgical technique avoids this. Some doctors use drains in the areas liposuctioned to collect the fat for transfer to the buttocks. See a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in advanced body sculpting techniques for an in person consultation/evaluation. Good luck.
Drains are generally not needed following a Brazilian Butt lift. A drain would be inserted when there is an open area or pocket that may collect fluid after surgery, such as in the abdominal area after a tummy tuck. But a Brazilian Butt Lift should not leave areas like this requiring the use of drains.
I have not found a need to use drains after a fat transfer to the buttock procedure. If you use a properly fitting garment, you should not need drains to avoid any fluid collections. Best wishes,Dr.Bruno
HiThanks for the question. My preference is to not use drains. The only time someone might use a drain is if they are performing very aggressive liposuction and are concerned fluid could accumulate under the skin because of the dead space. Typically this can be avoided by compression garments and avoiding over aggressive liposuction. But ultimately it comes down to surgeon preferenceThanks
No need for drains for a straight BBL. You only need drains when your surgery involves undermining (lifting of tissues).
Most doctors do not use drains after liposuction. It's important to differentiate patients who have a Brazilian in conjunction with an abdominoplasty. Almost all plastic surgeons use drains after abdominoplastIes. Drains are used to remove fluid that can build up internally after certain types of procedures. A postoperative fluid buildup is usually referred to as seroma. While these can form after liposuction it is unusual. sometimes we make medical decisions based on our training or from previous experiences. For example a plastic surgeon who is seen several people develop Seromas after liposuction might be more prone to place drains after liposuction in the future.VASER which is a form of ultrasound assisted liposuction has a higher seroma rate than other forms of liposuction.Surgeons who use this form of liposuction maybe more prone to placing drains. drains are generally never used in areas that I've been treated with fat transfer such as a Brazilian. It would only be the harvest area where the fat was removed and again most plastic surgeons would not place a drain if the fight was removed using only liposuction. Ideally a Sarama should be aspirated as often as possible.Ideally at least once a day. it's a good idea to culture the fluid to make sure there's no bacteria growing in it.If there is bacteria then a different treatment options may be more appropriate. Contaminated fluid can...
