Am I A good candidate for 500 graft FUE transplant for my hairline. (photos)

In my opinion 500 grafts for a hairline design in your case seems very insignificant. You really need between 1000-1300 to be aesthetically pleasing.

A 500 graft FUE treatment may not be enough for your goal. A hairline transplant can generally require between 1200-1500 grafts, although this number can vary according to several factors. To restore a thinning hairline without making it obvious that work has been done, I suggest the use of finer hairs in order to create a more natural look. The answer to your question really depends on how low you would want the hairline to go.  Certainly spreading 500 grafts out in too big of an area would just lead to a thin recipient area.  Whereas just lowering the hairline a small amount could easily be accomplished with 500 grafts.  You would need to have a consultation to determine the best hairline placement within a suggested range, and then a graft estimate could be determined. 

You need to have good communication with your doctor to understand what your end result will look like with 500 grafts.  It will not likely give you the full density of your existing hair.  Someone with your hair loss pattern may be perfectly happy with 500 grafts, while others may not be happy even with over 1500 grafts.  You also have to understand fitting 1500 graft in a very small are may NOT be possible since you are implanting hair follicles that is the size of a rice grain.  In other words, one surgery may not be enough.  To add to the confusion, straight black hair on fair skin results in a thinner appearing outcome then someone with curly blond hair on fair skin.   I hope you can appreciate there are many factors to your end result than just a "number" of grafts.

You appear to have some recession of your temporal hairline, and perhaps some thinning of your frontal hairline. In our Seattle clinic, we would likely recommend 1000-1500 grafts for optimal correction.

You may need more grafts. Today, we do more and more hair transplant for people who are not bald and they want to rejuvenate their hairline. Many of these people need a small number of grafts, but we usually have to give them at lease 800-1000 since we need to make sure the frontal hair is consistent. The harvested hair from the back is generally thicker and healthier and if a small number of those are placed in between the thinner front, it may not be able to create the image of the solid hairline.

Hair transplant can be an option for forehead reduction,  correcting  receding hair line and asymmetry on your frontal hair line/forelock.I advice you have a FUE operation of 1200-1400 grafts. The doc would determine frontal hair line and debade with you to decide level of new hairline.

Hair line restoration is very precise procedure and with 500 FUE grafts you would be very disappointed. You are correct, it is not enough (not even close) even with a conservative hair line. Look at the hair transplant surgeon's results and others and decide who and where you would trust. Hair transplant results are permanent, do your research well and avoid a bad hair transplant. Find a well qualified hair restoration surgeon.

Your hairline is receded and to address a receded hairline, you will need something in the order of between 1200-1700 grafts depending upon the thickness of your hair shafts (finer hair requires more and coarser hair requires less grafts). When a new hairline is created, the leading edge needs to have a transition zone so that the hairline is not abrupt and this takes about 400 single hair grafts just to make it soft an not obvious.  Also, the number of grafts should reflect your goal for the hairline you want to achieve.
