It’s been 14 months and my lip fillers haven’t dissolved. Will they ever completely dissolve?

There are different types of fillers that can be placed in the lips and they last different lengths of time.  If you could provide the name of the filler you had placed in your lips, it will help determine how long it might last.  

HA fillers normally last about 6 - 12 months. I have seen some people where the filler last longer, with no problems, even up to 3 years. If there are no issues with the filler, just leave it alone and at some point it is likely to dissolve. 
Occasionally there is a small part of the filler that seems to last, with the rest breaking down, which is probably due to a capsule around the filler. If this is causing a problem it can be broken down with Hyalase. Rarely there is a thickening of the tissue, rather than residual filler, which may be more difficult to break down.
My recommendation would be to get a review with your Doctor, so that you can both decide what is best for you.

Thank you for your question. The most common type of dermal fillers used for lips injections is hyaluronic acid. Results longevity/duration will vary from one person to another. Lips fillers will last on average 6 to 12 months. However, it can last up to 18 months. Hyaluronidase can be used to dissolve hyaluronic acid dermal fillers if necessary. It depends on the type of filler being used, your immune system, your doctor, and mouth movement. Juvederm is known to be the longest lasting lip filler and can last anywhere from 12-18 months. If you received a Juvederm lip filler, which is very possible, it is normal that it hasn't dissolved. However, if you wish that your filler dissolves, that are treatments to reverse lip fillers.
