Dark spots in my lips after filler, 1 month post, should I see a doctor? (photos)

I had fillers over a month ago and everything looks perfect except for dark spots that look like hemorrhage that started to appear lately. My only explanation is that my husband is very “passionate” when he kissed - he likes to bite my lips while kissing. Do I need to see a doctor?

Hello and thank you for your question.  This looks to me like bruising and can very well be a result of lip biting from your husband.  Another explanation could be that after your fillers you had deep and dark bruising that resulted in hemosiderin staining.  I suggest trying arnica, bromelain and warm compress with light massage to help the healing process.  If after a month or so this does not resolve, you can possibly be treated with a V-Beam laser to help break up some of the old blood that has remained there.  Make sure to see an experienced practitioner as the lips are sensitive and must be treated with a very light setting. Hope this helps. Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. It appears that these are small bruises that if they have not been there since your injections are most likely related to your husband's bites. There does not appear to be any concern that would prompt a doctor's evaluation.  Hope this helps.

Hello HSA,If your filler was a month ago and the spots only appeared recently, there is not going to be a relationship between the two.  Since you mentioned your husband is a passionate kisser and tends to bite your lips, that is the likely source of what you are seeing.  I hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks for the question and the photos.
There are concerning causes for dark spots in lips after filler but they will appear very quickly after the injection and certainly not 1 month later.
If you are concerned then make an appointment with your injector but I think your partner's amorousness is to blame for these little bruises and nothing more sinister.
