I am 2 weeks post breast augmentation with 350cc silicone implants and bilateral lifts. I had strept throat 2 days post op- fluke felt fine before surgery. Finished 7 days of Cipro BID & Zithromax Pak. Yesterday began running 102.4 fever. I don't feel bad except tired and fever issues. I've seen the surgeon who assures me my breasts are fine. By the way my normal temp is 97.1. At 102.4 I feel horrible. Can it be the implants?? Im a RN and incisions look good but this crazy fever has me concerned.....
Answer: Fever after breast surgery A fever of 102.4 is concerning. If you had a breast infection that was the cause, it would most likely be obvious. You would have some asymmetric swelling, skin that was warm and red, and localized pain. This is most likely not the case. You should probably see your PCP and have him/her determine the cause of the fever. If you have any symptoms with the breasts, you should see your surgeon quickly.

Answer: I am running 102.4 fever 2 weeks post op augmentation and lift is this normal? No, this fever is not “normal”. Given that your breasts do not appear to be the source of the fever, you may be best off being seen by your family practitioner, who will be able to check all the common sites of “infection”. Continue to see your plastic surgeon frequently as well. As always, best to make a diagnosis before beginning treatment with antibiotics. Best wishes for a speedy return to good health.

Answer: Follow closely It sounds like you are doing all the right things. A viral illness or other URI can flare up after surgery as at any other time. The trauma of surgery can be a trigger. A course of antibiotics is a good start if it was actually due to strep or another bacteria. Stay in close contact with your plastic surgeon and watch carefully for any signs of infection from your breast surgery such as increasing pain or swelling (should be diminishing at 2 weeks post-op), redness, drainage or delayed healing.Drink lots of fluids, take tylenol or ibuprofen, try to get rest and monitor your temperature. Consider a few basic blood tests including a CBC, ESR and CRP as a guide to help monitor your progress as you hopefully rapidly improve.Good luck.

Answer: Fever after breast augmentation surgery See your doctor right away. When your plastic surgeon and or his staff tells you they want to know about any concerns, they mean it. This could be unrelated, or it could be serious. don't wait on things like this. Don't wait on things. If your surgeon isn't immediately available see a Nurse Practitioner or a PA in his office. Your surgeon will want to know right away. If you are still suffering and your PS isn't available, see your primary care physician who can take your vital signs or share them with your doctor. Hopefully this will turn out to be nothing serious but it certainly is nothing to dismiss.
