Bump on the side of my nose - will it go away or will I need a revision?

Hi. I had an open rhinoplasty 9 months ago. I'm a 37 year old female (white background) with a thick skin. I'm worried about the visible bump on the right side of my nose. My surgeon says that it is a lower lateral cartilage that is prominent on right side. I did not have this before my surgery, so I'm wondering will it go away or will I need a revision? Bump is not visible from profile, only from front view. I'm aware that I might wait up to 2 y for my results, but I'm

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

Hello! Thank you for your question. As far as I can see from your photos, you have thick skin and 9 months is too early to make a decide. The final result can be seen like 1,5 years later. However, it looks like these bump is serious than the swelling. It would be more convenient to decide with face-to-face consultation. Best regards!

Thank you for your question and for providing photos. Your rhinoplasty results appear favorable overall, and you are correct in waiting until your nose is fully healed before considering a revision. Addressing the bump first requires determining the cause, as it may be the result of either swelling or cartilage protrusion. If it is caused by swelling, time and perhaps steroid injections may diminish its appearance. If the bump is caused by cartilage, revision surgery may be necessary to correct it. Keep in mind that each subsequent nose surgery becomes more complex due to loss of structural support, scar tissue, and other factors. The importance of experience, expertise, and artistry cannot be overstated. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon, with expertise in rhinoplasty techniques. They will be able to review your surgical history, assess your concern, and determine the best course of action.

What is the bump on the side of your nose? it looks a little too high up to be lower lateral Cartilage. Another possibility is scar tissue. It is impossible to assess this just from a photo. Ask your surgeon if it might be scar tissue, and if so, would a steroid injection help

From your photos, I note significant improvement in the height and width of your nasal bridge as the result of your rhinoplasty. The "bump" you describe may simply be residual postoperative swelling.
Rhinoplasty is an extremely invasive procedure as the nasal skin and soft tissues are stripped from the underlying nasal musculature, bone, and cartilage; the nasal bones are broken; and segments of cartilage and bone are removed. It takes 18-24 months for the postoperative swelling (which provides nutrition to the healing tissues) to subside. 
It is too early to assess the final postoperative result.
