Dent/bump on nasal tip after rhinoplasty - What is it and how can it be fixed?

Hello! I would appreciate any opinions and advice. I had a nasal tip-plasty performed 6 months ago. I am concerned about a bump that recently developed on the side of my nose; from the front view there is a visible indentation, and the side shows a raised area that looks unnatural. I am wondering if there is anything that can be done to minimize the appearance of the bump or if there is a chance this will resolve on its own. Thank you.

Hi NYC girl,
The bump on the tip of your nose appears to cartilage, it may from a graft that your surgeon placed or it may be the remnant of your lower lateral cartilage.  Your surgeon should be able to tell you what it is.  Unfortunately it usually takes a revision surgery to correct the problem.  Good luck and be well.

What is the bump on the right side of your nose? The “bump“ appears to be residual lower lateral cartilage, which is the Cartilage which supports the nasal tip. This Cartilage is typically trimmed during a rhinoplasty, but if less was trimmed on one side it may appear more prominent than the other, and appear as a “bump“. your surgeon will know best what it is based on the type of procedure he performed on your nasal tip which should be documented in his operative report. If it is residual lower lateral cartilage , the only way to correct it would be to trim it surgically.

From your photos, I note a depression of your right nasal supratip with a fullness of the right nasal alar wing. The right nostril sill sits higher in altitude than the opposite nostril. This may represent a displaced or folded alar cartilage.
15% of cosmetic surgeries may benefit from a secondary touch up procedure. You may be a candidate.
Revisit your plastic surgeon for reevaluation and advice.
