Hello, i’m rather insecure about my side profile as i’ve noticed my chin in a little behind my lips; i’ve been thinking about if it would be a good idea about getting some kind of chin surgery or procedure but im not entirely sure which one, as i would want the most cost effective but ultimately long lasting, or if i should just leave it the way it is. I’m very much stumped and would appreciate some feedback.

Your photograph is inadequate. You appear to have neck fullness and you may benefit from liposuction for better definition. A chin implant is a possibility. You need an in-person examination to determine what exactly needs to be done.

From the one limited photograph,  it does appear that your mandible is recessive and just did not quite grow far enough forward. Consider placement of a chin implant under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure which takes about a half an hour. No general anesthesia is required. You would be best suited with a size small chin implant.

Without seeing you in true profile at rest, I can only speak in general terms, but the first question is why the chin sits behind the lips, because that decides the tool. The bony chin may be short on forward projection, the lips may be full or pushed forward by the teeth and bite, or both may contribute, so the bite is part of the evaluation. When the bony chin itself is deficient, the usual surgical options are:1. A chin implant, which adds projection through a small incision and is often the simpler route, though it adds a foreign material.2. A sliding genioplasty, which moves your own bone and can also adjust height and width, with a somewhat larger operation.Filler can preview the change but does not last. Over the long run, the most cost-effective choice is simply the one that matches your anatomy and is done once. Facial growth should also be complete. An in-person exam with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon who does a lot of chin work is the sensible next step, including the option of leaving it alone.
