Intermittent redness and tenderness on left side of chin implant after 3 years. Is it dangerous? (Photos)
Almost 3 years ago, I had a chin implant placed through an intraoral (inside the mouth) approach and secured with screws. I had submental neck liposuction done at the same time. It took a very long time, close to two years, for the deep structural swelling to fully settle down. While the cosmetic result has settled, I am still experiencing an ongoing issue on the left lower side of the implant. From time to time, that specific area gets noticeably red on the surface. Also, there is like a dent on that side. Additionally, I sometimes feel a distinct tenderness or tightness in that exact spot when I smile or move my facial muscles. The area is completely unbothered most of the time, and the redness always disappears on its own, but it keeps cycling back. Is this dynamic flushing and tenderness dangerous after 3 years? Because it was placed through the mouth and secured with screws, could the mentalis muscle be catching or rubbing against a screw or the edge of the implant wing when I smile? Could the concurrent neck lipo have added extra scar tissue to the mix? I want to know if this intermittent flare-up is a sign of a dangerous complication or just chronic, localized tissue friction. Thank you!
