10 days post-op, should I be concerned if my areolas are not perfect circles?

Breast lifting, no implant. 43 yrs, 2 kids. I had a lifting procedure on Jan, 18th. I'll be having wires out this week Friday. I just saw my new breasts now in the mirror and I am a bit confused about the both my new areola. they look like circles but not perfect circles. Is this usual after only 10 days since the operation?

It's hard to fully comprehend how your areolae look without a photograph, but perfect circles are not possible to achieve surgically or by nature. With this surgery, in fact, the areola can look wildly distorted and then with time become very round and aesthetic.

It is difficult to tell without any pictures of before and after to compare, but at 10 days post op it is still to early to see final results, give them time to settle and continue to consult with your PS to discuss your concerns.

As the healing continues, with the skin stretching and decrease in swelling, the areola shape will likely change. It's best that you discuss your concerns with your surgeon. Dear shobo,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast lift surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process at 10 days  post op.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. 10 days is simply too premature to make any judgement about your surgery.  Swelling and inflammation will resolve over months and the scars will also mature.  Express your concern to your surgeon and follow their post op instructions to make certain that you optimize your outcome.  As my colleagues have pointed out, if necessary a revision could be considered in the future.  Hopefully, it will not be necessary!

Slight asymmetries are to be expected after surgery. It is not possible to achieve perfect symmetry with the human body.  These differences are most noticeable within the first few weeks of surgery and should settle and be much less noticeable with time.

It is not uncommon for the areola to be imperfectly round right after a breast lift.  The skin may be gathered by underlying sutures and swelling may affect the shape, as well.  Over time you may see them become more circular.  If you have a persistent issue then minor revisions can be done to improve the shape once you are fully healed.

Hi and thanks for your question. Sometimes the skin does stretch and change as the swelling comes down. Over time this can change the shape of the areola. I recommend speaking with your surgeon regarding your concern. If you are unhappy with your areola shape, a areola revision can be performed after about 6 months. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your question and provided information.
You are still early on healing process. Right now you might have one breast bigger than the other, feel swollen and also have bruises, it is normal and can happen for the first 3 to 4 months. Be patient, it is too soon to determine your final result.
If the situation doesn't improve over time, I suggest you to follow up close with your plastic surgeon.
