4 months ago I fell on my face, causing a bump on my eyebrow (almost gone now) and nose swelling (no bleeding). The latter appeared immediately after the injury, producing an aquiline appearance, but seemed to go away mostly in the following week. However, I realise now that my nose does not look straight anymore. It also seems worse than it was 2 weeks after the injury. Could it still be swollen after 4 months and slowly going back to its original shape? Or will it be even worse with time?
Answer: Nose swelling after trauma: the nose can take quite a long time to revert to normal after trauma. Nose swelling after trauma: the nose can take quite a long time to revert to normal after trauma. A lot depends on what the trauma was. If you had a nasal fracture the change is likely to be permanent unless you choose to have surgery to change it back. In some cases there is soft tissue trauma which may result in some scar tissue over the bony area . Most of this should resolve with time but a small remnant may persist.

Answer: Rhinoplasty after nose trauma (fracture?) It takes good 6 months for swelling after nasal trauma to settle. In that time or later, when deformity is well defined, it is appropriate to consider nose surgery. Rhinoplasty will take care of pre-existing condition (hump, blant tip) and improve septum and nose deviation which are result of trauma. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon, expert in rhinoplasty, is recommended. Good luck.

Answer: Nose changed shape after injury 4 months ago Based on your photos, you appear to have an overprojected nasal bridge appearance above your tip both before and after your injury. If this is bothering you, rhinoplasty surgery may be considered. It is unlikely for this to change 4 months after your injury. Thank you. Sincerely, Dr Joseph
