Will getting a rhinoplasty make my face look less round and hollow on the right side? (photos)

Question

I am an 18 year old male and am looking into getting a rhinoplasty. I have a dorsal hump and a nose that teeters to the left, causing the skin on my right to look as if it's stretched over. The left side of my face looks nice and full, but the right side looks hollow. Would getting a rhinoplasty fix this or would I need to look at other options?

Hello! Thank you for your question.As far as I can see from your photos rhinoplasty would not change your facial asymmetry or hollowness in your face. It only effects your nose shape and facial harmony. With rhinoplasty you can get rid of the dorsal hump and gain more suitable nose. If you can provide photos with better lighting, from the side of your face and 1 meter away I would be able to make a proper evaluation. It is unlikely that rhinoplasty surgery can help in making your right side of face looks full. The reason you notice a difference between the two sides is because of facial asymmetry, which is normal and present in almost all people. The best option to correct this is by filler injection.

The Rhinoplasty is an operation that can dramatically change someone's look because of its central position, the nose can change the whole perception of the face, both in profile and frontal views. For asymmetry concerns, this could be an appropriate option for you.

The pictures are a little difficult to assess your nose very well. Slight dorsal prominence appears to be present, but in a male a conservative reduction is warranted to avoid feminizing the nose (unless that's the goal such as in facial feminization surgery). If your nose is indeed crooked, straightening this can be done along with the hump reduction.

Effect of rhinoplasty on the facial asymmetry: a rhinoplasty will remove a dorsal hump and a Rhinoplasty or Rhinoplasty combined with septoplasty can help straighten a crooked nose. However if you have facial asymmetry and one side of your face is more “hollow“ than the other, the rhinoplasty will not improve that. The most common treatment for asymmetry of fullness of the face is usually fat injection or filler.
