My doctor says my neck is too tight after a facelift. He has been injecting my neck with 6-9 ccs of steroids with every visit.

He is injecting me using steroids every time I go in with a 10 cc syringe using up to 9 cc of steroids and having me stretch my neck with my hands. The last time I went in, he did some sort of horrible massage that left me with more numbness and pain and disfigurement for weeks. It has been 6 months and I don't think we are headed in the right direction. Can someone advise me?

Hi Rebecca! Sorry to hear that you're experiencing trouble after your neck procedure. It's hard to say what's causing the tightness such as the suture technique or excess skin removal / tension. Injecting steroids can be helpful in addition to massaging, but these should be done very carefully. Steroids can cause fat atrophy and disfigurement to the skin if used too often or in too high of dosages. At 6 months, you would expect improvement to be going in a positive direction. It may be worthwhile to seek another opinion from a facial plastic surgeon adept at face and necklifts. Best of luck to you!
