I have a very square face. Wondering if Botox/Dysport will significantly reduce this issue. What are my other options? (photos)

Hi Reba. It does appear that you have healthy development of the masseter (jaw) muscle.  We use Dysport to relax and shrink the muscle to relieve stress from teeth grinding, treat migraine headaches and slim the jawline.  You are a good candidate for Dysport to slime the jaw and make the face appear less square.

Hello and thank you for your photos and question.  Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.  Botox can certainly contour the jaw line when we inject it into the masseter muscle and even the chin. Kybella is another product with will also help you rid the fullness of your face and double chin.  This however, is not something you would want to do so close to your wedding.  I would recommend a consultation with a board certified provider that can sit down with you and your timeline and discuss what the best plan of action will be.  I hope this information helps and best of luck to you!

Botox can be used to slim the jawline, but will not improve under the chin. Botox results resolve in 3-4 months. A combination of  Kybella with thermage, ultherapy, exilis can give improvement. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question. I believe you are a great candidate for Botox into the masseter muscles to help slim your jaw. I like to start by injecting each masseter muscle with 20-30 units of Botox to help weaken the muscles. Typically, results last 3-6 months. Thanks for sharing your photos and question. I find that combination treatments work best when enhancing facial shape. This usually includes Botox/Dysport into the masseters to slim the lower face and soften the jawline and fillers such as Restylane Lyft into the cheeks and chin to improven cheekbone defintion and chin projection. The combination leads to a more heart shaped face. As for the fullness under your chin, if it is due to skin laxity, a skin tightening procedure like Thermage FLX will help. If the submental fullness is due to fat, then a Kybella would be the best nonsurgical treatment option.

Thank you for your question. Botox is a great product to reduce the jawline . The procedure is quick and easy with no downtime. In 3 months the angles of your jaw will slim down. The other options is jaw reduction surgery which I don’t recommend at this point, being so close to your wedding date. Jaw reduction surgery is very common in the Asian population and is permanent but there is significant recovery time needed. Congratulations on your wedding and best of luck with your procedure. 

I think you would be a good candidate for botox in the massater muscle to create more of an oval shape to your face. Given your time line I would recommend you get in quickly to see a board certified physician specializing in aesthetic medicine for a consultation and treatment if you desire to go forward. If your masseter is more prominent than injection of Botox will taper it and give you a more feminine appearance but to determine exactly what is best since you are describing a square face consult a board certified dermatologist experienced in the area of aesthetics

Form the pictures you provided I think your treatment should be focused first on your double chin or submental fat. You can be a candidate for either Kybella or Coolsculpting mini. You could consider  Botox but since you will be getting married soon I don't think it could be a good idea to experiment with weakening your muscles since not everyone likes the results.

Thanks for the photos with your question! Botox can slim the jaw when it is injected into the masseter muscle. This weakens the muscle that you clench your jaw with . The results last 3-4 months, so if you are interested in seeing how this would look on you, it is best for you to do this very soon. If you do like it, you will want to repeat it before your wedding. That being said, I also see fullness in your chin area and I would recommend Kybella. Kybella takes about 6-8 weeks to see the final effects, so that is something that should also be done soon.
