Can I just get a Corset Platysmaplasty? (photos)

Question

Can I just get a Corset Platysmaplasty? Will that simply be a cut under the chin? What is the cost? How long is the down time? Most importantly, where can I go in Minneapolis/St. Paul Minnesota? I don't have loose skin just bad banding. I would get a lower face lift later in life.

After a corset platysmaplasty, skin is pulled toward the middle.  That pull must be compensated by doing a lifting procedure laterally.  Although you may not need a facelift, neck lift incisions and pull laterally would also ideally be needed.

With the Corset Platysmaplasty, you will need some skin tightening as the muscle envelope underneath the skin contracts and comes together.  This leaves the skin over the muscle loose, with the need to also contract.  
FaceTite contracts the skin 20%.  The advantage of using FaceTite with a Corset Platysmaplasty, is that only a small incision underneath the skin is needed, rather than ones behind the ears.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you may
benefit from a mini neck lift with a platysmal plication.  Some skin tightening will be needed also, and therefore short incisions behind the ears would also be needed.  If good technique is used,
this can be done with minimal scarring and can result in a natural look, not
over-done look, with rejuvenation of your neck.  Cost varies based on geographic region and surgeon expertise.  Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect
is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek
consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate
you in person.

You appear to have excellent skin tone and quality by the photos. Something to think about as a potential nonsurgical option would be Botox injections along the medial aspect of the platysma bands bilaterally. While this is a nonsurgical option and requires repeat treatments every 3 to 4 months, it may be a temporary option until a surgical procedure would be warranted. A more permanent option would be a neck lift with platysma band plication. This would involve a small incision beneath the chin. This is an excellent option as you have very good skin quality.

    Thank you so much for your question and your photos. Youre question about a platysmaplasty is a great one. It all depends on your anatomy and skin elasticity. In the younger patient with early platysma banding but retained skin elasticity, Platysmaplasty can be very effective. Once the skin ages however the loose skin that gets created during a platysmaplasty has to go somewhere and a neck lift may be indicated. When indicated this will give you a very nice and long lasting result!
 A well done lift by an experienced surgeon can be quite life changing. Not to sound corny but truly it often changes many of my patients entire outlook on life. Many many different surgeons offer various types of lifts now days but at the end of the day the best way to protect yourself is to do the following: Meet your prospective surgeon, check out their facility, review their photo galleries either in the office or online and lastly if you feel the need speak to their prior patients. A corset platysma-plasty is used  performed in conjunction with a neck lift, or a face and neck lift. An in-person examination is going to be required to make a determination  about what is going to be the correct procedure. The skintone  in the neck will be the driving force as to which procedure to perform.
