Porterj89 thank you for your question. I ask my patients to stop Rogaine prior to the hair transplant procedure. This is two fold:minoxidil is a vasodilator and brings blood flow to the area. This can cause increased bleeding. In turn , this can cause loss of grafts and poor healing.some over the counter forms have alcohol which can burn the new graftsGood Luck #DRB
It is best to contact your doctor about post operative or pre operative care and instructions since each doctor has a different regimen. There is no firm start or stop time frame of using minoxidil other than it may irritate the newly transplanted grafts.
I recommend to my patients to start to use minoxidil 2-3 weeks after the surgery and it does not damage the grafts .
Hair transplant are no improved by the addition of this treatment. The grafts are harvest, cooled, irrigated with fluid and then separated once the number of grafts is satisfied. The follicular units are then transplant into the area to be treated. For these grafts to survive they need to be left in place and not manipulated. Washing the hair with a simple cup of water with some baby shampoo is all that is need the first two weeks. If the procedure is performed properly then you will web good to go.
When you have developed minoxidil dependent hair, then most doctors don't want you to lose these dependent hairs so after a couple of weeks, we recommend that you go back on the drug.

If your trauma to your scalp was was significant enough to cause normal hairs fall then it probably affected your transplanted grafts.
