Is CoolSculpting safe for someone with rheumatoid arthritis? (Photo)

Question

I am looking into fat freeze in my abdomen, but I have rheumatoid arthritis. Can people with this illness have that done? I am 41yr old and I use Orencia injections as well as motrin.

Rheumatoid arthritis is not a contraindication for CoolSculpting, so you should be able to safely move forward with your procedure. I might also recommend liposuction, which would actually give you a better result and in a single treatment session. The liposuction technique I use involves tumescent fluid and micro-cannulas that minimize damage to surrounding skin and tissue. The procedure can be performed using local anesthesia and recovery is just a few days. This procedure should also be safe for someone with RA. However, I would schedule a consultation with an experienced, board-certified dermatologist with expertise in the this treatment for further assessment.

I would see no reason why someone with rheumatoid arthritis could not have a CoolSculpting treatment.  Rheumatoid arthritis is not a contraindication to the procedure.

Rheumatoid arthritis is not a contraindication to Coolsculpting.  The only contraindications to Coolsculpting are cryoglobinemia or metal in the area to be treated.  At Monroe Comprehensive Laser Center in Monroe, Mi, we would recommend Coolsculpting in combination with a skin tightening procedure like Morpheus for more optimized results, if you are going for a non-invasive approach.

Even though CoolSculpting is completely safe in patients who are taking rheumatoid arthritis medications, I would not recommend this procedure to you based on your photograph. In order to achieve even a small degree of improvement on your love handles and abdomen, you will need at least five to six treatments. While waiting three months in between the treatments and the cost, you will have spent more money on a procedure which is not as effective as regular liposuction, performed by competent plastic surgeon. Save yourself a lot of aggravation, expense and the wait. Get liposuction by a good plastic surgeon. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City plastic surgery
