I’ve been so insecure about my face, it really gets me down. Even when I lose weight my face/jaw doesn’t seem to follow. I need to do something as it's really affecting my self esteem. I don’t like going out and refuse to have my photo taken.

Thank you for your question.  An in person consultation is always best.  There are a few options to treat your concerns.  An non-invasive option would be a few rounds of Kybella to help decrease the fat on the one side of your jaw, and then Ultherapy to help tighten the skin.  Another still fairly less invasive treatment would be Precision Treatment Neck Contouring.  This treatment uses liposuction to remove the fat and a heat energy laser to tighten the skin.  You see results over the next few months.  Both treatments are comparable in price as well.

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure that uses a vacuum applicator to draw in skin and underlying subcutaneous fat to deliver controlled cooling. This penetrates below the skin causing permanent elimination of fat. It can be administered in a variety of areas on the body, including the jaw and chin area, lower and upper abdomen, back, arms, and thighs. You can do CoolSculpting if you fit the applicator. Be sure to consult with your doctor to see which option is right for you.

First, your chin sagging is very subtle and I don’t think you should feel so insecure about it. That said, judging by your photo, I would advise CoolSculpting for your situation. CoolSculpting is ideal for eliminating stubborn fat bulges from problem areas like the belly, flanks and under the chin. You will very likely see positive results from the procedure.

Dear StrangeQueen:I do think that the definition of your jawline on one side can be improved with treatment with Coolsculpting mini. You might want to consult with a dermatologist who has both Coolsculpting and KyBella to get the best results. Generally, once the fat is removed the skin snaps back and tightening procedures probably won’t be needed.I hope this is helpful. Sheryl Clark MD FAAD

Nobody's face or body is symmetrical.  For some patients it is more noticable than in other people.  Coolsculpting and/or kybella may help to remove the fat from the area if you are looking for a noninvasive or minimally invasive procedure.  This may need to be followed up with some type of skin tightening procedure or dermal fillers to contour the jaw line.  You should get an in person consultation with an experienced provider who can best advise you

Thanks for the photos since they were very helpful. Unfortunately, most of us have asymmetry to our bodies, so you are not alone in liking 1 side more than the other. CoolSculpting is good for permanently removing fat from an area where the device is applied. Since you already have asymmetrical fat deposition, it may be necessary to treat the fatter side twice and the less fatty side once to try to get them to look more even. However, CoolSculpting does not do anything to tighten skin, and from reviewing your photos, I suspect that after the fat is removed, you may still notice some loose skin present which will still make you feel less than confident about your appearance. There are some minimally invasive procedures that do a great job tightening skin and these can also allow your physician to customize your fat removal so that the fat deposition will be very even and symmetrical from side to side. 2 of the best are FaceTite and Renuvion. I would suggest getting consultation with a physician experienced with these procedures who can assess your neck/jawline and discuss what would be the best way to achieve the results that you are seeking.  Best wishes, Mary Beth Mudd

Dear Lancashire,Neck lift can be sculpted optimally with ultrasonic liposuction and internal skin tightening with jplasma Renuvion. In contrast, Cool sculpting or Kybella May debulk a bit of the fat, but the sculpting of the jawline will be lacking.Costs of all the above procedures are comparable.Best.
