Am I at a high risk for any problem or infection if proceeding with a surgery such as mesh bra, or revision without replacing the implants if they are in perfect condition?
Answer: Implants You are at higher risk of infection since they may be exposed to bacteria from your nipples. They could be injured upon removal. Also, you may lose your warranty once the implants leave your body. It is safer to get new implants.

Answer: Risk A lot of risk is related to other patient factors such as BMI, overall health status, nicotine history, tobacco history. This is part of a comprehensive history and physical that a plastic surgeon (board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery) would perform with you at a consultation.

Answer: Revision If you are interested in getting a mesh bra then most likely your breasts have descended from the weight of the implants. You may want to replace with smaller implants. Another alternative to consider is repositioning them. Often times, implants have to be removed and repositioned to change the pocket position and you may be better off changing implants. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Risk is essentially the same Hi there, I wouldn't say your risk is higher than the average person unless there are factors we are unaware of like your current medications and health status. Of course the risk of all things is still there however it is not increased just because you are going back in for a revision procedure all the best

Answer: Infections after breast surgery Infections with breast surgery is relatively low, but can happen. Each time you have some form of revision you add an increased chance of developing an infection. I suggest you discuss this with your provider. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
