It depends on what type of nerve damage you are talking about. Sensory nerve (feeling) or motor nerve (movement) injuries can both occur from Kybella. In the initial study of Kybella for FDA approval sensory loss after injection typically occurs in the area of injection under the chin and is very common. I have many patients that experience this. This typically goes away in about 4-6 weeks or so. Motor nerve damage was very rare but did occur in the study. I have not had this happen to any of my patients but according to the study, this can take longer than 6 weeks but let me assure you, in every case, nerve damage whether sensory or motor resolved on its own. So just give it time.
