Will the doctor just take the cyst out and put implant in?

A benign cyst will not interfere with your desire to get implants. Depending on the location and size, it can either be drained with a needle prior to surgery or removed during your surgery. Discuss your options with your surgeon.My best,

I would add to the other good advice here that it has been seven years since you last had the cyst examined. It is highly unlikely that it has changed or become dangerous in any way. However, one cannot assume this. Prior to any breast surgery, you should visit with a breast surgeon to reevaluate the mass, mammogram and or ultrasound, and make certain that there are no surprises during your augmentation. If the cyst is still there you have several options.  Many of these benign cysts will resolve if they are simply drained with a needle, and you can have your surgeon do this in the office prior to surgery.  If the cyst recurs, it should be well within the capabilities of any breast surgeon to remove it at the time of your augmentation surgery, though an additional incision may be required.Consult with an experienced, board certified Plastic Surgeon to be sure.

The best advice that I can give you is that you should speak to your plastic
surgeon. I do remove cysts but it really depends on where they are. Most often they are managed seperately.

Having a benign breast cyst will not preclude getting implants.  Depending on where it is located, how large it is, and if is still even there will determine how to proceed. Six years later, depending upon your age, you may be well advised to get a mammogram or other imaging to assist in planning.All the best. 

Thank you for the question and if the cyst is easily palpable it can be removed during your augmentation.  If it is not then it would need to be localized via a needle or dye preop and then it also could be removed.Dr. Corbin
