Is it possible to get rhinoplasty if I have wound healing disorder/problems?

Hello, I have wound healing problems and tend to get hypertrophic and keloid scars after surgeries. Can I still get rhinoplasty? What kind of complications can occur in such Cases?

Hello @mimii90 thank you for your question. Nose surgery is a safe surgery from the perspective that the specialist has experience. It is safe as long as in the consultation the patient has clarified in an ample and sufficient manner his or her doubts regarding different conditions or the result. An rhinoplasty can open or close, both are techniques to access all the structures that make up the nose, both the cartilage and the bone, there is not one better than the other. Personally I always use the close technique because it does not leave scars. The scars go inside the nostrils and therefore are not visible to people. Best wishes!

In general, closed rhinoplasty does not lead to external scars unless you want to narrow the nostrils. This means that the type of problems that you see on the skin are not likely to occur following such an intervention.

Open tip rhinoplasty involves a scar on the columella which tends to be good even in people that have bad scars elsewhere. However if you want to minimise risks it seems like a close intervention may be your better solution.

You should consult with a plastic surgeon regarding your previous scars. Hypertrophic scars are very rare in rhinoplasty. If it's done closed you don't have to worry about it at all.
