Hi, I am 33 and had an extended tummy tuck 4 years ago. Since that time I have given birth again (7 months ago) I didn’t gain much weight and am actually lighter than pre baby weight now but my stomach is no longer flat. I seem to have a bulge now above the scar. Will weight loss fix this or will I need to have a revision to get it back to flat? Thanks
Answer: Surgery Try weight loss first. If then you still have excess fat, liposuction may work. If you have excess skin, you will need a revision. However, avoid any revisions until you have had all the children you want.

Answer: Will I need a tummy tuck revision after giving birth? Hello @Jane6491, thank you for your question. A lot depends on the laxity of the abdominal wall. In some situations, the wall can return to its position with very little damage, however, I can see some excess of skin and fat from the pictures. For more information and recommendations, it is best to consult with one or several board certified plastic surgeons. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS. Answer: Considering options An examination is always best, but your should see an improvement in the abdominal contour with weight loss. Once you have achieved you goal weight if you still have concerns then you can consider liposuction. A revision to your tummy tuck would not be needed unless the muscles have separated or there is excess skin.

Answer: Tummy tuck Dear Jane6491, based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a TT. Full tummy tuck should tighten your abdominal muscles and remove the excess skin. Flanks liposuction would give you a better shape. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon because only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Pregnancy after TT It will be mandatory to lose some weight in order to create a more balanced body. Your incision is very high, the abdominal flap is thick and also the mons pubic area and definitely you have some excess of skin as the result of the pregnancy. So after losing some weight (6-8 lbs) you will be candidate for liposuction all over abdomen, waist, mons reduction (lipectomy), lower the incision, remove some excess of abdominal skin. Be encouraged!! Dr. Cárdenas
