Can I reverse my surgical rhinoplasty with filler?

Question

I had rhinoplasty two months ago and totally hate it. I miss my bump and don’t like the slope and would prefer my nose to look bigger. I am devastated, would actually like my bump/hump and strong side profile back, not looking for permanent results. Also when could I have the filler? Thank you so much. Also, does it appear my nose tip was raised? My surgeon said no, said my columella wasn’t changed. Was he being honest?! Thank you so much again.

Hi and thanks for your question. Yes, you can add to your bridge and make your nose look more like it did before the surgery. I would wait until 6 months after the procedure, so that the tissue is more settled. I like to use a filler called Voluma. This is a hyaluronic acid filler that looks natural and lasts for a year to a year and a half. It is also dissolvable at any time with a simple injection of enzyme. After one or two rounds of Voluma, you can go on to a permanent filler like Bellafill, so you absolutely do not have to continue to do injections forever. Non Surgical Rhinoplasty is a tricky procedure to get just right and it does carry more risk than the usual filler injection procedures, so you have to make sure that your injector is very experienced in specifically this procedure. You appear to have an improved, less distracting and more feminine nasal profile after your surgery - I'm sorry you don't like your nasal profile. You could consider adding volume to your bridge for slight raising with a nonsurgical approach, but restoring a bump may not be feasible. Wishing you well. Dr Joseph

I recommend waiting at least 3 months from the date of your surgery before using nasal fillers. The tip appears only slightly more rotated compared to the preop. I wish you all the best. Hope this helps.

You can absolutely change the appearance of your nose with fillers. We've had great experience with Versa and Restylane HA filler. But, in general you should be aware that it takes about a year for the swelling and everything else to settle following rhynoplasty.  That's also the case with mandible contouring.All the best from Boston, Dr. Onir
