Are fillers a good option for adding definition to ethnic nose, would fillers effect rhinoplasty later on?

I love my facial Features although I feel like my nose is off setting to my face. My nose has no definition and disappears when I smile, it’s in contoured has a missing area on the bridge and extremely thin cartiligenous tissue surround my nose. Moreover, sometimes I get really bad congestion’s that leads to tooth aches and headaches.

Hello and thank you for your question.  It seems you would be a great candidate for a non-surgical nose job. It is always a good idea to start with the non-surgical option before considering surgery as it is usually more cost effective, achieves a natural look and has little downtime.   With fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, or Bellafill we can shape your nose to create a bridge and define the surrounding tissues.  In addition to filler, when Botox is also injected into the base of the nose (where the nose meets the upper lip), it can keep your nose from moving downward when smiling.  If there are issues of congestion and toothaches, you should consult with an ENT about what your surgical options would be. Sometimes issues of inflammation within the sinus cavities can cause these problems and are unrelated to the aesthetic appearance of the nose. Best of luck!

It is conceivable that injectable fillers may be considered for contouring the appearance of a narrower nasal appearance, however, your nasal bones and nasal sidewalls attach to your face in a wide position and pleasing nasal narrowing might require osteotomies. All of that said, digital photos are rarely a substitute for an in person evaluation. Consider visiting several reputable rhinoplasty specialist who offer nonsurgical treatments to see whether or not something like this would be right for you. Good luck moving forward! A nonsurgical rhinoplasty is wonderful technique to camouflage irregularities, dents, humps, and bumps of the nose. It won't affect your ability to get rhinoplasty later on. Your nose could be improved with rhinoplasty, which would give permanent improvements in symmetry, shape and profile. You can bring photos of noses that you think would be flattering to your face and these can be discussed. When you meet with a facial plastic surgeon, he or she will consider your nose in balance with your other features and can over the cost of the procedure. I hope this helps.

I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist to go over your desired results. Facial fillers (voluma, restylane, juvederm) can be used to improve the symmetry of the nose. They would not affect surgery results later, but will not help your congestion. Surgery would be needed to improve nostrils or overall shape. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your photo. A non surgical rhinoplasty performed with filler will help blend the angles of your nose to make the lines appear more smooth and proportional and can add stucture and definition to different areas.  This can be performed with a hyaluronic acid filler such as VOLUMA which can also be reversed with a hyaluronidase injection in case you do not like the look. Surgical rhinoplasty is permanent but with a little more downtime. It is best before surgical rhinoplasty to have your filler dissolved so the rhinoplasty can be tailored to what your true nose should look like. For the best treatment options, it is important to visit an expert for an in-person examination.

In my opinion "fillers" sound easy and are very attractive for patients and surgeons, however most highly experienced world class surgeons specialising in ethnic rhinoplasty steer clear at all costs of foreign material. You should seek an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon and discuss your requirements. I tend to avoid foreign body implants and fillers and use cartilage, sometimes from the ribcage if trying to achieve some of the issues you are trying to address. However please note that this is difficult surgery. Fillers can cause scarring and might make future surgery much more difficult.

Fillers can certainly help with creating a more narrow nasal appearance which is a subtle and easy process if done properly. For liquid rhinoplasty we recommend a product with a higher G' like Restylane Lyft or Juvederm Voluma as they have enough structure and support to lift structures in a stable fashion.

Hi,Fillers may give temporary definintion to your nasal bridge. However, you will have to repeat this every 4 to 6 months. Ethnic rhinoplasty can give permanent nasal tip and bridge definition. Based on the photos you provided you have a bulbous nasal tip and wide nasal bridge. The bulbous tip would need to be reshaped; grafts may need to be used for tip support.  The bridge can be narrowed and nostrils brought in. Bulbous tip rhinoplasties are by far the most challenging cosmetic operations in cosmetic surgery. This because the anatomy and skin thickness requires special techniques to achieve desired results. Do your research online and try to choose a surgeon that can deliver results that you seek. They should have numerous before and after photos with results you like and seek.
