How many Forever Young BBL maintenance treatments do I need?

Clinical studies from Stanford University show that treatment with Forever Young BBL at least twice a year can actually reverse the signs of aging. It is also beneficial to begin the treatments in your early 20's for "pre-rejuvenation" of the skin.

At my office we normally recommend 2-3 BBL treatments a year to help maintain your results. As well as a good skin care regimen (Sunscreen, Vitamin C, Retinols) to compliment and continue to help maintain the procedures you have done. We have found that 2 BBL treatments per year seems to keep most of our patients very happy with the appearance of their skin. For facial rejuvenation,  I would suggest a combination approach of 
1) skin care with products and PRP/microneedling
2) PDT light therapy few times a month with growth factors
3) laser treatments like clear and brilliant regularly and a few times a year Fraxel/halo Viva, Co2/Erbium
4) Sculptra injections a few times a year for collagen production with fillers like juvederm/restylane/belotero/radiesse/bellafill
5) thermage/ultherapy for yearly skin tightening with or without PDO or cone based instalift threads for lifting
6) botox every 2-3 months to stop movement lines and prevent lines at rest
7) deep microneedling RF like Fractora/morpheus8 for tightening of the skin8) Vascular laser like vbeam/excel V or BBL forever young treatment every quarter (3-4 months)

There is no right or wrong answer to your question. You see the biggest improvement in the skin with the first three BBL treatments. Maintenance can be done every 6 months to one year. In addition to reducing the sun spots and broken capillaries BBL will also shrink the sebaceous glands smoothing the skin. This texture improvement would be better if you do your maintenance treatments every 6 months. We recommend maintenance treatments every 6 months with our clients.

Our Patients love BBL for the face, neck, chest and hands especially. We like to tell our patients to do one and see how you do. Additional treatments can be done. One treatment is good, two are better and 3x a year can be great! Along with great sunscreen, Vitamin C and skin care. BBL is a wonderful anti-aging treatment.  Hope this helps

BBL is a wonderful laser to use to keep up results from any fractional CO2 laser. I would recommend a combination approach to maintain results including topicals such as retinol/retinoids, antioxidants, and SPFs along with BBL 1-2x a year. The number of laser treatments can increase or decrease depending on how well you take care of the skin throughout the year. 

If your provider actually read the papers on which the information about FYBBL, then it's easy. The original study by Bitter, et al out of Stanford showed that for people who did an initial series of 5 treatments in the first year, then 2-4 treatments every single year for the next 10 years, that when they were 11 years older at the end, they looked in both pictures and biopsy 2 years younger. That means that if you started at age 30, at age 41, your skin would look 28. There is a very specific multi-pass protocol that this research was based on, so make sure that your office knows and follows the Bitter protocol. At our office, Dr. Gelber personally knows and has worked with Dr. Bitter, so we have this down pat and follow it for our own skin!

The Stanford study which looked at patients treated over 10 years using only BBL showed significant improvement in texture, color and aging over that span of time. That study was based on 2-3 maintenance forever young treatments per year over 10 years. There is only benefit to doing this many BBL treatments per year however many of my patients fit into the 1-2 BBL treatments per year category. In these treatments, we treat to remove brown spots and improve redness and enlarged vessels. In addition to the BBL treatments we are also doing 1-2 light resurfacing treatments with Halo, RF microneedling, or CO2 to improve collagen, texture and elastic tissue. I generally feel this approach of using multiple platforms gives the skin its best results.
