Redness and inflammation after neck lift. Any recommendations? (Photo)

Question

I had a face and neck lift 3 1/2 months ago. Overall happy with the results but continue to have lots of redness and inflammation on neck. It changes daily but can’t seem to calm the redness. Any recommendations?

Thank you for your question and congratulations on your face and neck surgery. Inflammation and redness can be byproducts of the healing process for a few months after this procedure, particularly in the delicate skin of the neck. I would guess the side effects you are experiencing are a normal part of the recovery process, but if you are concerned, I encourage you to schedule an in-person follow-up with your surgeon. Good evening!Congrats on your face lifting surgery!  Prolonged skin redness after neck lifting in particular can happen with certain skin types- it almost always resolves in a few months.  Sometimes your surgeon may prescribe a mild steroid cream to help - but be sure to check with your surgeon before trying such a treatment.I hope this helps

Time is your friend.  I imagine your facelift surgery was conducted by a well respected Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon with a huge facelift practice-and if so you you have nothing to worry about.  Face and Neck lift surgery is somewhat invasive, and most patients actually need a year for all aspects of swelling, redness and general inflammation to settle.  Hang in there as you wait for your incredible new face and neck to appear over the next 8 months.  Happy healing !!!
