In general, lip augmentation with Radiesse is "frowned upon" due to the potential for lumps and bumps. A filler made of hyaluronic acid (HA), such as Restylane or Juvederm, is better suited for the lips. These fillers can be used to even out deficiencies. These last for about a year, whereas Radiesse lasts around one and a half to two years. If you choose to have an HA filler injected to even things out, beware that you may have some asymmetry due to the use of different fillers that were injected at different times.
Although Radiesse is a good product to add volume to the face, I do not recommend using it in the lips. Radiesse is fairly firm and can cause irregularities in the lip. I find the hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvederm, Restylane) work much better in the lips. You could use one of these to help smooth out any irregularity from the Radiesse.
It is possible to use a different type of filler in order to correct the issue. Something like Restylane or Juvederm might be better suited for your lips.
Thank you for the question. Fat grafting can be a fantastic treatment for lip augmentation, with some patients achieving permanent results. The difficulty, however, is that swelling can be unpredictable and relatively long-lasting. In my practice, we sometimes need to use small injections...
Juvederm is a clear gel, and for several days (up to 2 weeks) after injection it can be felt, especially in the lips. When injected evenly, it will not be visible, but it may be palpable. Within 2 weeks the gel will become softer and smoother as it incorporates into the lip. At...
Thank you for the question. Could you send a photo as this would make it easier to assess. The good news is that there are steps that can be taken to reduce the swelling. I advise my patients to ice the area for up to 10 minutes every hour. Reusable ice packs can be used or a...
Lip augmentation can be performed to reshape the lips in a number of different ways. Using a combination of traditional and blunt cannula techniques, the lips can be made to look fuller without looking like "duck lips". Some patients require more volume throughout the body of the...
Thank you for the question. My bias is not to have permanent objects, (silicone, etc) in the face in general and the lips in particular. Your face will change over time, and typically what you put in may have to be removed. We have taken many implantable devices out of lips. Some will do a n...
Having your lips injected every month is a little excessive, since the filler really should last longer than that. Try a different hyaluronic acid (Restylane, Juvederm Ultra Plus) as they should last longer than 1 month. The fullness you see initially is likely from the filler taking...
