Lip augmentation can be performed to reshape the lips in a number of different ways. Using a combination of traditional and blunt cannula techniques, the lips can be made to look fuller without looking like "duck lips". Some patients require more volume throughout the body of the upper and lower lip, while others require filling of the vermillion border (similar to using lip liner) to give the lips better definition, while still others benefit from plumping of cupid's bow to restore the natural position of an inverting lip. Bottom line is, with a skilled injector, you can achieve fuller, more attractive lips without looking ducky.
The best way to ensure that your lips will look lovely after they are injected with a filler is to ensure that you are treated by an expert injector, preferably by a cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Each patient's lips are unique and their appearance should be enhanced to look natural. After a treatment with Juvederm or Volbella, your lips should look natural, and not done.

Thank you for your question. It is always recommend starting with smaller amount of filler. This is because you do not want to over fill your lips and then have to dissolve it and start over again. You can always add more filler if you want additional volume. I recommend having a consultation...
Usually, total lower lip reconstruction involves multiple stages to close the defect and then optimize the function of the lip. It is impossible to give even general recommendations without seeing photos of the condition of your lower lip. Reconstruction of large lip defects is very challenging...
It is definitely not unusual to have swelling 4 days post injections! We always tell our patients to wait 2 weeks for lips to fully settle and heal. Swelling can last a while. If it continues after 2 weeks, make an appointment to see your injector for a follow-up. Good luck!
