I had an areola reduction 2 years ago and I am unhappy with the result as I feel they still aren't as small as I would like. I went back to the surgeon who did my reduction and he said that he couldn't do another areola reduction as it would cause the new scars to stretch due to previous scar tissue and the skin being used to the previous position. He recommended a breast lift instead with a lollipop scar to reduce tension on the scar around the areola. Is this advice correct?
Answer: Breast lift with lollipop scar for areola reduction A breast lift with a lollipop scar technique can be an effective approach for both addressing breast ptosis (sagging) and revising the size and shape of the areolas. However, whether you would benefit from this procedure depends on your specific concerns, goals, and the recommendations of a qualified plastic surgeon. Here are some considerations to help you determine if a breast lift with a lollipop scar would be suitable for addressing your areola reduction revision: Breast Ptosis: If you are experiencing breast ptosis (sagging), a breast lift can help lift and reshape the breasts to a more youthful and aesthetically pleasing position. The lollipop scar technique involves an incision around the areola and vertically down the lower portion of the breast, allowing the surgeon to remove excess skin and reshape the breast tissue. Areola Size and Shape: If your primary concern is the size or shape of your areolas, a breast lift with a lollipop scar can also provide an opportunity to revise the areolas. During the procedure, the surgeon can adjust the size and shape of the areolas to better complement the overall appearance of the breasts. Scar Placement: It's important to consider the placement of scars and how they may affect your aesthetic goals. The lollipop scar technique typically results in scars around the areola and vertically down the lower portion of the breast. While these scars tend to fade over time, they will be visible, so it's essential to discuss your preferences and concerns regarding scarring with your surgeon. Overall Goals and Expectations: Before undergoing any surgical procedure, it's crucial to have clear goals and realistic expectations for the outcome. A breast lift with a lollipop scar can provide significant improvements in breast shape, position, and areola appearance, but it's essential to discuss your expectations with your surgeon to ensure they align with what can be realistically achieved. Ultimately, the decision to undergo a breast lift with a lollipop scar for areola reduction revision should be made in consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. They can evaluate your unique anatomy, discuss your concerns and goals, and recommend the most appropriate treatment plan to help you achieve your desired results.

Answer: Breast lift with lollipop scar Dear chloeee1996, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Reduction You did not post photos, so I cannot be specific. However, your surgeon has examined you and probably gave you good advice. The peri-areolar reduction is limited and only removes a small amount of skin. Trying to take more often stretched the areolae out again.

Answer: Areola reduction There is a risk of the areola tissue restretching after the reduction. An exam or photos would be needed to know for sure, but a lollipop lift could be right for you. Keep in mind that when reducing the areola that adequate blood supply to the nipple must be maintained in order to keep the tissue alive.
