Is it bad to go braless 5 years after breast lift?

Question

I’ve had a breast lift about 5 years ago and today I went to work without a bra (I had nipple stickers). I’m now thinking about going braless more often and I was wondering if that could accelerate the sagging process.

Most women hope that they will be able to finally go braless
following a breast lift procedure and this should be something you should enjoy
if you feel comfortable doing so.
With time it is inevitable that the breast will naturally
begin to sag as the skin loses its elasticity regardless of the breast lift. Women
with larger, heavier breasts will likely see increased sag to their breasts
sooner than someone with smaller, lighter breasts. This is a natural process of
aging with or without surgery.

Thank you for your question.  If you have bigger breasts a bra helps to support, but going braless for work every so often is fine and will not have an effect on your breast.  All The Best

After six or 12 weeks, you should be able to enjoy going braless after a lift. Wearing a bra is most important when exercising, of course. It is important to remember that in many patients, a lift will loosen, usually over 5 to 10 years, and need a small  surgical correction.

Overtime, regardless if you have undergone breast augmentation, augmentation mastopexy, mastopexy (breast lift) alone, your breasts will naturally have some sagging due to gravity and loss of glandular tissue.  At five years after surgery, the scars should be well heal and you should by all means be able to be FREE as you like!  If you have any problems or concerns, please contact and schedule a consultation with you plastic surgeon.Good Day,

Thank you for your question. I often tell my patients that after a lift is performed it is important to support the breast. Patients originally go in for a breast lift due to drooping of the breast, which occurred due to increase/decrease in size, and the quality of the skin. Yes, it is true that you will most likely not end up in the same place as you were prior to the lift, but there can still be droopiness due to quality of the skin combined with the fact that gravity does not get turned off. So, my answer would be yes it is ok to not wear a bra occasionally, but support your breast the majority of your time, especially when exercising. Good luck and best wishes!

The rate of droop would depend on the size & weight of your breasts.  If you are comfortable without a bra then by all means go without one!  That is often the aim of my patients & I would encourage that if you wanted!  All the best
