Will kaiser allow breast tissue to be removed while performing a breast lift without having to take out the full 500cc like with a reduction. My surgeon said 500cc was too much and would leave me with nothing. I am set on reducing size and weight but need insurance coverage. I am afraid a lift will leave me too big and a reduction will leave me too small. I wear a 36G and would like to be a small C cup.
Answer: Breast reduction or lift I agree that 500 cc removal will make you practically flat. If you have a lift with perhaps a small amount of reduction your breasts will seem much smaller because they won’t be hanging as much. A simple lift will make you a lot smaller than you think. The one thing to be careful of is to avoid overreduction which is easy to do.

Answer: Reduction/Lift The incisions are the same, the only difference is how much tissue is removed. I agree, 500cc removal will leave to too small. I don't know if your insurance will cover less than 500cc removal. I recommend an in-office examination as well as a detailed discussion with a surgeon who you are comfortable with. Finally, make sure your surgeon is a Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS), a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).Best,Dr. DesaiBeverly Hills Institute for Aesthetic Plastic SurgeryHarvard Educated, Beverly Hills & Miami Beach TrainedDouble Board-Certified, Double Fellowship-Trained Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Cosmetic Surgery Hello,This is cosmetic surgery, and will not (should not) be covered by Kaiser or medical insurance. That being said, a breast lift on you (heavy and large breasts) will not have a very durable or aesthetically pleasing result; you will bottom out and sag again. You should have a reduction as well to relieve the weight from your newly tightened skin. Achieving a 500 gm reduction is not necessary, but a couple hundred will improve your result. If upper pole fullness is desired, a low profile, shaped and highly cohesive implant under the muscle would be best. Go visit a few ABPS certified/ASAPS member surgeons who specialize in aesthetic breast surgery. Best of luck!

Answer: Breast reduction Dear Larissa Miller, breast lift would not be able to achieve your desired size. For that you will need a breast lift. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Breast Lift Thank you for your question and submitting your photos. Your insurance coverage will largely dictate the amount of tissue that needs to be removed to be a covered procedure. If you don't want to have that much removed, you may fall into the category of a cosmetic breast lift and would need to pay for that procedure yourself. It is always best to see a board certified surgeon in your area and be familiar with your insurance coverage to make the best decisions that will allow you to achieve your desired look. Best wishes on obtaining a great result!
