Based on your description, this is unlikely to negatively impact your result. Keep in mind, it will take 1-2 weeks for final results. If you remain concerned, I recommend following up with your injector. Best, Dr. Emer
Massaging the areas that were injected, lying down flat within 3 hours of treatment, and vigorous exercise are discouraged because some feel they cause the Botox to diffuse. Massaging the area a few times wouldn't affect the result.
Don’t worry, nothing that you did will affect your results. Just chewing will give you the same affect as the pressing down on the masseter that you did. The effect of Botox on thinning out your Jawline Is a great way to Improve it
The master muscle is the strongest muscle in our body per each gram of muscle tissue. To cause any problem would be nearly impossible since, most likely, the pressure you had used created much lower forces than you would see during mastication...chewing. If that was a problem, no eating or gum chewing would be a allowed after the injection. Good luck!
The reason we don't massage Botox is so that the fluid injected doesn't migrate to an area where we did not want it. There is no way to say for sure if you did anything negative until after the period of time it needs to kick in. In this case if it was over 2 hours after and the fact that it is in the masseter is unlikely to have any issues. Good luck with your treatment.
Though it is generally recommended to avoid massage for 4 hours after injection, your Botox results likely won't be altered by the fact that you accidentally massaged your masseter.
Massaging the area is not normally recommended but in this instance I think that you will be fine. The reason the we say not to massage is to keep the toxin where we inject it. In areas where the toxin could spread to neighbouring muscles it is best not to massage. The most critical area is the eye; tiny amounts of botox ending up in the muscle that elevates the lip corner might cause the lip corner to droop. Next time resist the temptation to massage!!
Thank you for your question.I would not worry about it one bit as your usual day to day activities such as talking or chewing will involve movement of the masseter muscle.Best Dr. L
Hi rotarydolphin, I would have to ask how soon after the Botox was injected did you "press" your masseter. Also, how much pressure did you apply? If you did 4 hours after Botox, you should be fine. However, if it was soon after, you can just closely ,monitor for the next 7-10 days. Don't forget to tell your injector what happened - in case there is soem asymmetry. All the best,Justin Harper, M.D.
I would recommend another week of waiting. I would look closely at your before photos to see what was there before. Sometimes when we have fillers, botox or other changes, we notice different perspectives of our own face. If the line was not there and persists another week, then...
Heavy massage can make the filler wear away faster. Even your own facial tissues can be worn away by excessive movement, massage and unnecessary pressure. Gentle massage is good but go easy if you want to keep the results from the filler. Never touch the face immediately after a filler to...
Difficult to say without a picture but I suspect that there is an imbalance between the muscles that lift your forehead and those that pull it down. The downwards muscles are winning at the moment and you have a heavy sensation. Go back to the doctor who will be able to look at the face once...
