Generally, I let my patients go outdoors after surgery. I ask them to wear large sunglasses that will cover the eyes. The nice thing about eyelid surgery is that wearing sunglasses can pretty much hide your recovering eyelids.Best of luck with your recovery!
You should take great care to not get your eyelid scar or any scars sunburnt for a least 6 months. If you did it could lead to permanent pigment changes. But this does not mean you must remain indoors. There are hats, glasses, and sunblock for protection. Most of my patients do stay home the first few days, but they are letting the swelling resolve.
It is not necessary to remain indoors doing a complete recovery time. You may want to remain indoors with the first 2 to 3 days but after that point it is safe for you to leave your residence
While sunblock is always a good idea, it is especially important as your scar in healing after surgery. In the early postoperative period, it is advisable not to have direct sun exposure on your incisions and thereafter sunblock is imperative to avoid excessive pigmentation in the scar line.
Typically just do whatever your surgeon has instructed. Each surgeon has different preferences that work for them. For my patients I don't require staying indoors at all. Only that they avoid straining, avoid sun on the incision, and that they ease back into activities.
Only seeing you in person and with the before photos would allow a determination of incision placement being to 'high'. As for possible therapies, I might try a bleaching agent to non invasive laser for hyper pigmentation. Fraxel is NOT the correct choice...
One of the more common causes of a wide-eyed "staring" appearance. It can be easily diagnosed with simple blood tests. I would have this ruled out before investigating other causes.Good luck!
