Does psoriasis affect someone's eligibility for a Brazilian butt lift?

Question

I have psoriasis and so far I'm not taking any medication for it but I am going to see a dermatologist about it soon. I am also looking into a Brazilian butt lift I don't know if having Psoriasis or if certain treatments for it would disqualify me from having the procedure done.

The locations of psoriasis as well as any medications taken to treat it could make the BBL less advisable.

Thank you for your question.Psoriasis is an autoimmune disorder and many of the medications used to treat it suppress your immune system. This can slow down healing from surgery. I would suggest getting clearance from your dermatologist and making your surgeon aware of everything as well, so that they can work together. I do not think this is a limiting factor.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking, psoriasis is not a contraindication for BBL surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Your condition does not prevent you from having plastic surgery now. Please talk to your dermatologist to get clearance for plastic surgery and then I suggest you to book a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss the best options for your goals.

It is best to get your psoriasis checked out and treated appropriately before seeking out the BBL. Psoriasis should not keep you from getting a BBL, but some of the medications used to treat psoriasis can affect healing, so it is best to figure out what treatment you need.

Psoriasis does not prevent you from having a cosmetic surgery, but you'll want to make sure that your plastic surgeon and dermatologist are coordinating to make sure that it's safe for you to proceed.If you are a good candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), the optimal outcomes are achieved with: 1) use of VASER liposuction to harvest the fat, 2) a closed looped system such as Puregraft to process the fat, and 3) strategic micro-packet transplant technique. having psoriasis should not prevent you from having a BBL procedure. There are some non-skin related symptoms in some patients with this skin condition but in general it shouldn’t get in the way of having a BBL.You may want to check with a dermatologist to make sure since they manage psoriasis a whole lot more than plastic surgeons.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
