I am 5 weeks post op for left eyelid retraction surgery related to Graves’ disease. My surgeon snipped the muscle to drop the lid but my concern is the asymmetry between the eyes from perhaps dropping the lid too far. The eyelid still seems a bit swollen so my question is two-fold. Is there a method (ice, massage, etc) that will reduce the swelling? And once the tiny amount of swelling is gone, will my eyelid lift to match the right eye?

Aside from surgery, filler can also be injected into the right lower eyelid to push it up. Sometimes the filler can make the right lower eyelid look more puffy though and may make the asymmetry worse. There are also more minimally invasive surgical options especially if you are...
Lower eyelid ectropion or retraction repair should NOT make the eyes smaller with proper canthoplasty technique. Most of the work should be on the lower eyelids themselves rather than the canthus.
Hard palate graft or any other internal eyelid spacer graft is not the main determining factor in surgery success for lower eyelid retraction repair. The actual lift of the lower eyelid is critical.
