When will my Gyno disappear? I am 13 years old (Photo)

Question

I went to the doctor in September 2013 and they said that it should disappear in 6 months or so. Now it is August 2014 and I still have them? What do I do to get rid of them! They are so embaressing.

Thank you for your question.Up to 2/3 of boys going through #puberty develop some
form of #gynecomastia due to the surges in #testosterone and estrogen which often lead to a hormone imbalance. Puberty is a difficult time for most boys, with
many changes occurring not just physically but also emotionally. Developing
gynecomastia during this age can affect the self-image and confidence of a
teenager. The peak incidence occurs around 14 years of age.

In
up to 75% of boys who develop pubertal gynecomastia, it will disappear without
treatment within 2 years. In 90% of boys with pubertal gynecomastia, it will
disappear without treatment within 3 years. If it persists for more than two years, you may wish to consult a #boardcertified #plasticsurgeon for a consultation.

It is common for adolescent boys to have some sort of excessive breast growth, but this tends to resolve itself as they approach adulthood. Maintaining a healthy weight also helps reduce the risk of gynecomastia.

Hi,Sorry you are having this problem.Usually it resolves as you go through your teen years.  If not you may need surgery or an office procedure called CoolSculpting. If you have true gynecomastia it will probably not go away without surgery. However, at 13 your body is still undergoing a lot of changes. Let your body mature for a couple of years. If this is still an issue for you, discuss with your parents. Usually liposuction alone can resolve most of this issue. I have done several teenagers with their parents consent and support.

Still too young to have a surgical /lipo removal. If at age 18 you still have this issue than with parental consent you can have surgery...

Hello Djui811, It is more common than you think for adolescent males to have some degree of gynecomastia. Except for extreme cases it is usually best try to hold off on any surgery until your growth spurt has occurred (at least 16-17). As you can see from article link below there are some medications as well than can be used. I would set up another appointment with your doctor in the next few months to re-assess and possibly a referral to a Endocrinologist prior to seeking out surgical consultation.
