Healing process for inverted nipple surgery?

Inverted nipple correction procedure can be performed at the office under local anesthesia or can be combined with other breast procedures, such as augmentation, reduction, or breast implant removal.

Inverted nipples pull inward rather than protruding outward, usually because of the underlying milk ducts being too short. During procedure, a small incision is made at the base of the nipple, underlying tethering tissues are released, nipple is lifted up and supporting stitches are placed.

Breastfeeding may still be possible after inverted nipple correction surgery but is not guaranteed, since many of the breast duct may be divided to correct the deformity.

You may return to work the next day. I typically recommend to avoid strenuous exercising for 3-4 weeks to allow for wound healing to take place.

A small incision of about 1 cm is made and the tethering ducts are divided. Two absorbable sutures are then placed. Downtime typically is a week or so and full activity at two weeks.
