Latex allergy wold not prevent you from having a breast augmentation procedure. There are methods used in the operating room to avoid all latex products.
No worries. Breast implants do not contain latex. Gloves and other vital surgical supplies are also latex free. Let your PS know of your allergy so that the surgical team can take the necessary precautions. Best wishes.Gary Horndeski M.D.
Breast implants do not contain latex and surgery centers use latex free gloves and equipment so the procedure will be safe for those with latex allergies.
Put simply: yes! Many women who have a latex allergy have a breast augmentation. You are not alone.
The hospital should have implemented and trained the staff for the latex-free environment protocol; with these conditions you can receive breast implants.
Thanks for this excellent question. Latex allergic patients can still have silicone implants. You can choose between saline implants, 4th generation and 5th generation silicone implants. Best of luck and seek out a board certified plastic surgeon in your area.
Thanks for your inquiry and excellent question. There is no concern with latex allergy and the implant itself. Make sure your surgeon and operating team know so that you have a latex free room. Good Luck.
Yes, latex allergy has nothing to do with breast implants. Both saline and silicone breast implants have a silicone based shell and not latex. All instruments and plastic tubes used in the operating room are latex free. You need to let your surgeon know about your allergy so he/she will use nitrile and not latex surgical gloves for your surgery. Surgical gloves are the only potential latex exposure in the operating room.
Thanks for your question. Yes, you can still get breast implants. Just inform your surgeon and the nursing staff so that latex-free gloves are used in your surgery. Almost everything else in the OR is latex-free. Good luck.
Dear maryjensen, Breast implants contain no latex so they are perfectly safe to use in case of latex allergy. I have had many patients with latex allergies who have undergone breast augmentation surgery without any problems with either saline or silicone gel implants. Good luck with your surgery! Dr Brou

No. The implants will warm up to body temperature since they are surrounded by warm tissue. Old myths die hard.
