What are the chances of getting keloid scarring from double eyelid surgery? (from a keloid prone male)

Hi, so I am an Asian male age 20, I have a lot of keloids on my chest and some on both sides of my jawline. I did some research online and did see that chances are incredibly low on the eyelid. However, as a person that is very keloid-prone, this is still a huge worry after all, eyes is the most noticeable part of the face. Should I go through with this surgery?

Even though you are prone to form keloids, this is very rare to see in the eyelids. It is important to inform your surgeon of your propensity to form them, so extra caution can be given. Make an appointment with an oculoplastic surgeon who handles Asian eyelids and complex cases. Good luck.

Dear Lyeafoyale,I have never seen or heard of this happening after double-eyelid surgery, however nothing is impossible. If you are keloid-prone this is important to mention to your surgeon. If keloid is your only concern it is reasonable to proceed with eyelid surgery. I hope this helps and I wish you the very best!

It is very rare to get a keloid on the eyelid. Nonetheless, if there is concern, you would need to stay in close contact with your surgeon postoperatively in order to have your scars evaluated and treated, if necessary.
