Will my eyelid go back to the way it was? (Photo)

Question

I'm Asian, but I have double lids. But recently I woke up and saw that one eye looks monolidded now. There's still a crease though, so it's more hooded. But they're so uneven and I hate the way looks. I want to know how to get it to go back to normal?

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. Your eyelid might be swollen. You can try cold compresses and take Benedry at nighttime. If you are not improving, see an eyelid specialist who can manage unusual problems (oculoplastic surgeon). Your condition is likely to resolve with time.

It's possible that it is swelling related but if it continues to stay this way it may be good to see a specialist. As long as there is no functional problems like eye closure it may be worth waiting to see it improves and comes back to normal.
If you have had a trauma for instance than it's a different problem and you should certainly see a specialist to get to the bottom of the cause.

Paige,It must be startling to wake up one day to find your eyelids are uneven. However, if it truly was a sudden change, it could just as likely return to normal. There are many causes for eyelid swelling, on one side or both. I would recommend waiting as long as 3-4 weeks to see a plastic surgeon and even longer before considering surgery. Things like fluid retention, sleeping on one side, infection, chalazion (sty) and hundreds of other possibilities could explain your situation. Try icing the affected side and let us know how things progress. I wish you well.
