Body Tite of flanks and abdomen without pain meds?

Question

I am having Body Tite Lipo performed on my abdomen and flanks in 2 weeks. It will be With local anesthesia only. I don’t have much to remove so I’m thinking it shouldn’t be too difficult. I do not take narcotics at all and I’m concerned about pain management after. Would Tylenol suffice? I have a high pain tolerance and have had a previous breast augmentation and lift with Tylenol only. Any other non narcotic pain management options?

BodyTite post-operative pain is akin to traditional liposuction. I will often equate the soreness with that of a vigorous work out. With regards to your specific question, Tylenol should suffice especially if you tolerated a breast augmentation (submuscular?) in the past.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

My prorocol for Bodytite is to give a narcotic pill about 30 minutes prior to the procedure. This makes the infusion of tumescent local anesthesia easier for the patient. Postoperatively, most patients don"t need medication for pain. Tylenol should be fine. Do not take Aleve or any other anti-inflammatory medicine as this may increase bruising.

In your case, Tylenol would very likely suffice. BodyTite is performed with local tumescent anesthesia. After the treatment most people feel sore, like after a strenuous workout, but do need narcotic pain medication for pain control. -Dr. Hernandez

Thank you for your question. BodyTite is a minimally invasive procedure performed with tumescent anesthesia. Given your post-surgical history you should be able to get by with Tylenol for discomfort following your procedure. These are great procedures.  We do our's under local anesthesia.  For more nervous patients we provide Nitrox laughing gas or some mild oral sedatives and/or a mild narcotic.  You don't have to have narcotics and for afterwards, we do not prescribe them.  However, you will need to get a number of numbing injections.  If injections don't bother you then you'd probably be just fine with the tylenol.  If much liposuction is going to take place then you may need something stronger.  Best regards.

Great question! If you tolerated breast augmentation without narcotics, you would be fine for BodyTite. It may feel like after a rough workout, may be slightly bruised. I have few patients going to work 12 hours after the procedure. Good luck!
