I had a vertical csect 9 mths ago. No med issues, age 34, 5'5", 170 lbs. Seeking lipo after csect. Live in NJ but willing to travel. I went to 2 local docs whom have pushed tummy tuck. I am looking for perfect just a big diff in size so that I can fit comfortably in my pre-baby clothes. I have seen pics online of women who look similar to me who have had lipo and achieved a great reduction in size w/o lipo.*What type of lipo would you recommend? *Does your practice currently offer any promos?
Answer: Lipo After Vertical C-Section In patients with a certain amount of skin laxity, it is difficult to predict the outcome after liposuction alone. For those patients I offer liposuction first with the understanding that skin removal or a TT may be needed in the future. Based upon the photos you submitted and assuming you plan to have no additional pregnancies, I would recommend a TT with muscle tightening for a flat abdomen and liposuction of your sides for better contouring. The TT would also provide the benefit of removing the C-Section Scar while placing your incision along the lower pubic region in a transverse fashion that can be hidden under a bikini.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Lipo after C-section This is possible, though if you have skin laxity, your results would be better with abdominoplasty. Having said that, Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified. I've attached a link where you can start your search.

Answer: Liposuction after C-Section? It is important to understand the differences between tummy tucks and just liposuction. Liposuction might not give you a big enough result. This is what I call "having realistic expectations." Your doctor could be the best in the world- and you still might not be as flat as you want after surgery. Why? Because, the extra skin and the muscles are not addressed. Being "disappointed" is a risk of surgery. Liposuction will help you improve your stomach area. But it won't make you as flat as a tummy tuck, Hope this helps! Dr Chris Saunders

Answer: Tummy tuck Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you are a better candidate for a tummy tuck with liposuction. This can be done through a low and short incision, all completely below the bikini line. The belly button can be designed to look natural and have no scars on the exterior. Your muscles can also be plicated resulting in a flat abdomen. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Liposuction vs. Tummy tuck Thank you for your question. Patients often come in asking for liposuction when it's not always the best operation in order to achieve the result you are looking for. Liposuction is an excellent operation to reduce localized fat and improve contour when the skin elasticity is good and the underlying muscle support is in tact. Based on your pictures, you have developed noticeable muscle laxity of your abdomen, which is common after pregnancy. The only way to address this issue is with an abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck. This would also given you reliably the flattest abdomen and allow the surgeon to remove most, if not all of your vertical scar. Liposuction alone can be done and will reduce the thickness of your tissue but may leave you with a bloated look due to the muscle separation. You can, of course, do liposuction first and see the results. The skin removal and muscle tightening can be done in a second surgery if you desired. The best thing is to see a board certified plastic surgeon and be sure they understand your goals and preferences. Good luck.
