Lipo After Vertical C-Section? (Photos)

In patients with a certain amount of skin laxity, it is difficult to predict the outcome after liposuction alone.  For those patients I offer liposuction first with the understanding that skin removal or a TT may be needed in the future. Based upon the photos you submitted and assuming you plan to have no additional pregnancies, I would recommend a TT with muscle tightening for a flat abdomen and liposuction of your sides for better contouring. photograph, you are a better candidate for a tummy tuck with liposuction.  This can be done through a low and short
incision, all completely below the bikini line. 
The belly button can be designed to look natural and have no scars on
the exterior.   Your muscles can also be
plicated resulting in a flat abdomen. 
Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of
real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate
their results.  The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are
comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified
board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

This is possible, though if you have skin laxity, your results would be better with abdominoplasty.  Having said that, Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified.  I've attached a link where you can start your search. 

Thank you for your question.  Patients often come in asking for liposuction when it's not always the best operation in order to achieve the result you are looking for.  Liposuction is an excellent operation to reduce localized fat and improve contour when the skin elasticity is good and the underlying muscle support is in tact.  Based on your pictures, you have developed noticeable muscle laxity of your abdomen, which is common after pregnancy.  The only way to address this issue is with an abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck.  This would also given you reliably the flattest abdomen and allow the surgeon to remove most, if not all of your vertical scar.  Liposuction alone can be done and will reduce the thickness of your tissue but may leave you with a bloated look due to the muscle separation.  You can, of course, do liposuction first and see the results.  The skin removal and muscle tightening can be done in a second surgery if you desired.  The best thing is to see a board certified plastic surgeon and be sure they understand your goals and preferences.  Good luck.

It is important to understand the differences between tummy tucks and just liposuction. Liposuction might not give you a big enough result. This is what I call "having realistic expectations." 
Your doctor could be the best in the world- and you still might not be as flat as you want after surgery. Why? Because, the extra skin and the muscles are not addressed. Being "disappointed" is a risk of surgery.
Liposuction will help you improve your stomach area. But it won't make you as flat as a tummy tuck,

From your photos, it appears that you demonstrate a significant weakening of your abdominal muscles which have been stretched apart by pregnancy. Liposuction alone will not address this issue. 
I suggest that you consider a tummy tuck if you are within 15 pounds of your desired body weight.

I think a tummy tuck is the best choice for you. It will address your scar, help remove lax skin, and strengthen your abdominal wall. I don't think you'll be able to achieve the same goals with liposuction alone. You would need an in-person exam to determine if liposuction would be beneficial as an adjunct procedure (lipoabdominoplasty) or if abdominoplasty alone is sufficient. Liposuction removes fat but does not treat damaged muscles or skin.  Based on your photo you have significant muscle laxity plus a vertical c section scar that could be removed with abdominoplasty.  I suspect the docs you saw recommended abdominoplasty as liposuction is unlikely to give you a nice result based on the photo.  They should have educated you about the differences between liposuction and tummy tucks and it is good that you are doing research here to confirm their recommendations.  Beware of non plastic surgeons offering liposuction who can't offer a tummy tuck as they will be more than happy to take your money and give you a suboptimal result.

You are probably better off having a tummy tuck to remove the vertical scar and place your incision along the lower pubic region in a transverse fashion as well as tighten the muscles.  However, lipo can be performed to reduce bulk. If you have visceral fat ( fat over the organs), then neither procedue can treat that.

Your problem appears to be mostly muscle laxity and then a moderate amount of fat behind the abdominal wall. You should lose some weight and then get a TT. I am a huge fan of Smartlipo but only in the correct situation.see a board certified PS.good luckdavid berman md
