I'm considering shaving my head to get SMP. Should I consider having scar revision surgery before getting SMP done? (Photo)

Scalp pigmentation can be placed onto scar tissue to blend with your surrounding hair. Minimising the size of the scar may help in the overall cosmetic look but the decision is yours. Pigmentation can react slightly different on scar tissue, taking longer to settle on occasions. If you decide to undergo a scar revision then it is best to leave any pigmentation for around a year after or not touch the scar area. As the skin needs to settle before applying any pigment. 

Hi Pitt82If you are shaving your head to get scalp micro-pigmentation then you don’t have to worry about the scar. We usually camouflage scars by using scalp micro-pigmentation and making it blend with the rest and the results have been great. Give it a try but make sure that you go to a professional that has the ability and experience to make this work and look naturally.Best of lucks!

There are three possibilities following scar revision: the scar is the same, wider, or thinner.  Often times the surgeon plays a role in all three possibilities, but it is usually a poor procedure that produces a wider scar.  Color is a major issue.  The only thing i've seen consistently reduce the pink color is to place grafts into the scar.  Color is due to increased circulation and blood is red.  If you are going to revise the scar, either do this before the SMP or at least 3 months after the SMP.  You may wish to put SMP into the scar and also possibly graft the scar.  

If you are shaving your head, or keeping your hair long enough to cover the scar, scalp micro pigmentation will camouflage the area and the scar will not be visible. Scar revision is always another option. 

If your scar is flat (not elevated at any portion of it), then SMP should easily handle the scar and a shaved head for great looks, see below
