Hello! I am a 23 y/o female considering getting filler to balance out my face. I have always been self conscious about how heavy the bottom of my face/jowls are relative to my cheeks and lips. I also really do not like that when I smile it doesn’t seem to reach my eyes. Let me know where the best place to put filler would be and/or what else I could do to combat this issue. This is something i have felt very insecure about for years and would love to fix or at least reduce. Thank you!

Answer: Cheek Fillers Help To Contour, Shape & Taper The Face The appropriate use of injectable fillers in experienced hands can remedy your concerns with immediate "Wow!" response. First, some basic filler principles are in order: 1) When filler is injected above, it affects favorably what is below, and 2) when filler is placed to the rear, it favorably affects the region to the front. The one major exception to these axioms is that if filler is properly placed in the cheek regions it will help to improve not only the region below the cheeks, but the undereye region above, as well. So, from the photos provided it is clear that there is flattening of the cheekbone regions and from the profile view, there is the development of smile lines and marionette lines. Hence, if the cheekbone region is treated with a bolus of a lifting filler, such as Restylane Lyft, the lift provided will help not only diminish the flattening in that region, but will help to reestablish the more desirable heart-shaped appearance of the face--at the same time diminishing the smile and marionette folds. The undereye region will likely be freshened, as well. Make sure that you consult with a board certified aesthetic physician with experience and expertise in advanced filler injection techniques, and not just the local medspa accustomed to treating ordinary smile lines with simple fillers. Also be sure to ask to see his/her personal before and after photos. Best of luck.

Answer: Facial Contouring Botox can be placed in the masseter muscle to weaken the muscle and contour the lower face. Treatment with Botox to the masseter muscle is also ideal for patients who are grinding and clenching their teeth. Over time this can create a very squared lower jaw, contributing to a more masculine appearance and fuller face. Botox will relax and thin the muscle, which would result in thinning of the face. You would also benefit from filler to the upper lateral cheek and temple areas to improve shape.
