Will wound on top of nose heal without leaving a dip from side profile? (photos)

Question

I am 7 weeks post op from having a botched batton graft on my right nostril. I had 2 previous surgeries and this time it left a nasty gash on my nose which is healing very slowly. I am worried it will leave a dip from a side profile because it is not closing like it should. What are your comments and suggestions. Please help

Thank you for your question about nose surgery.

I am sorry you are having difficulty and have a wound on your nose.  Having a rhinoplasty for the third time is much higher risk of having a complication.Follow all of your surgeon's instructions and maintain fastidious wound care and scar care.  See web reference.

Dear ycobb74It is really difficult to build up the courage to go ahead with having surgery and it is even more difficult to have an outcome that you did not expect. It is hard to decifer from the pictures, however, one consistent fact is that the body has a miraculous ability to heal. I would suggest patience and following your doctors instructions. Over the next few weeks the swelling and inflammation will subside. you will then have a better sense of the degree of the "dip". The redness often takes 5-6 months to subside. use lots of sunblock.Once the area is stable, you can look into treatment if needed. Sometimes small "dips" can simply be raised using simple fillers in the office. I hope this resolves quickly and without consequence.

Looking at your photos, I see a scar on the dorsum of your nsoe and a deviation of your external nose. First, your scar will heal, but may be discolored. I would recommend laser resurfacing and IPL for texture and color. The deviation and possible dip in your nose may require a revision, but can be corrected.
