Are there certain credentials a person should make sure my doctor has? What does it mean if a doctor is board certified? Can doctors perform rhinoplasty if they aren't board certified? Is it safe?

Answer: Board certification for rhinoplasty procedures Board certification in plastic surgery or facial plastic surgery/otolaryngology is very important as that ensures that the doctor is trained specifically in rhinoplasty and has passed rigorous exams testing them on their knowledge on rhinoplasty and other cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. Any doctor can perform a rhinoplasty but you would want a doctor that has the specific training. Besides credentials, make sure that the surgeon you choose performs rhinoplasty frequently as this procedure requires a lot of experience and a large volume of cases to be performed expertly.

Answer: Board Certified Plastic Surgeon/Otolaryngologist I would suggest looking for someone who is a board certified plastic surgeon or otolaryngologist with a high-volume rhinoplasty practice. Make sure they show you photographs of previous work and understand what you are looking to accomplish. Having to revise a nose is a much harder task underscoring the importance of getting it right the first time. Any type of doctor can perform rhinoplasty - make sure you do your homework!
